Threat prompts increased police presence at Mooresville schools

Social media post threatens Mooresville High School

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Extra police officers were at Mooresville High School and other area school campuses Tuesday following a social media threat. School officials intent to keep the increased officer presence through the week.

According to school officials, the threat read: “ATTENTION ! ! ! I’m warning all of you there is gonna be a school shooting on Thursday the 16th of May located at mooresville hs DONT COME TO SCHOOL.”

Mooresville Grade School District sent the following letter to families Monday evening.

The school district called the threat “extremely concerning.”

Mooresville police say they worked with the school district to investigate a social media threat and “address it accordingly.”
