CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Police are looking for a pair of alleged thieves who they say broke into multiple cars and a home in Charlotte this week.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, 20-year-old Kiante Treshawn McClellan and another unidentified person are wanted for these crimes.
McClellan has multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest including attempted first degree burglary, first degree burglary, three counts of breaking and entering a vehicle, two counts of misdemeanor larceny from vehicle, felony larceny from burglary and possession of a stolen vehicle.
On Monday 4:20 a.m. officials say McClellan, along with the second unidentified male suspect, broke into a vehicle parked at a home on Normandy Road. They then attempted, but were unable, to break into the home itself.
About ten minutes later, officials say McClellan, along with this second suspect, broke into a vehicle parked at another nearby home and then were able to break into that house. Officials say the suspects broke into the home while the victims were inside asleep, and fled when one of the residents woke up and confronted them inside the home.
As the suspects were fleeing the scene, CMPD officers located their vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit ensued.
The vehicle crashed into a tree on Slatewood Road then suspects ran from the scene and escaped. The vehicle they were driving was found to have been stolen out of Matthews.
