Myers Park Baseball Looks to Close Out Season with a State Title

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The Myers Park Mustangs currently have a record of 24-1, and finished conference play with an undefeated record at 14-0 to clinch the regular season Southwestern 4A conference title.

“Anytime you do something like this it’s monumental. It’s good for the community, it’s good for the school and it’s special for these guys," Mustangs manger Erik Foor said. “It’s going to be a story down the line that they never forget.”

Last week Myers Park made a big statement winning the conference tournament by defeating Butler 12-2, and during the three tournament games they won on the way to that championship, they outscored their opponents by a total of 40 runs to 5.

“We got a good group of guys and Coach Foor is awesome. He came in here and really turned the program around and we’ve really shared a lot of special memories," senior infielder Patrick Alvarez said “Over the past couple of years, we’ve really had some fun playing high school baseball and we’re really looking forward to going out on a bang.”

The Mustangs will play Ardrey Kell in the 2nd round of the NCHSAA on Friday, May 10th.
