CALDWELL COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - A man is dead and a woman hospitalized after a double shooing in Caldwell County that investigators say was the result of a child custody issue.

The incident happened before 2:45 p.m. at a home on Spears Road, which is in the Gamewell community in Lenoir. Deputies say a 36-year-old woman was found on the back porch of the home with a gunshot wound to the facial area.

A man, identified as 77-year-old Robert Carroll Clontz, was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound near an outbuilding on the property.
