ALEXANDER COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - The Alexander County Sheriff’s Department has placed a suspect in custody and charged him with breaking into a residence in the Bethlehem community.
Deputies reported to the scene of a suspicious vehicle call at a home off of Icard Ridge Road on May 2. A witness told police that they had seen an individual parked under the driveway’s carport crawl through a window into the home.
Later that day, the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office spotted a similar looking vehicle on the Taylorsville Highway and conducted a traffic stop.
The driver of the vehicle, Aleck Keaton Beard, 24, refused the request of police to search his vehicle, at which point the car was seized and brought to the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office where an ensuing search found items stolen from the home.
Beard has been charged with felony breaking-and-entering, felony larceny of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon and felony larceny after breaking-and-entering.
