First Alert issued as afternoon storms approach

Saturday morning weather

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A First Alert has been issued for Saturday. You’ve certainly noticed the warmth and humidity that has crept back into our forecast. That will set us up for a warm and muggy day, which should lead to a round of afternoon thunderstorms.

Highs will be in the mid 80s and it will feel like summer. A line of storms will move from west to east, arriving as early as 2-3pm for the mountains and reaching the rest of us by around 5-6pm. Any storms could be strong to severe with gusty winds and hail being the biggest issues.

There could be a few showers or storms left around on Sunday as the system departs. We will still reach the low 80s with a 50% chance for storms.

It will remain warm in the week ahead. Temps will be in the low to mid 80s. Rain chances are low the first part of the week but better chances arrive later in the week.

Have a great weekend!
