CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Friday turned out to be a nearly-perfect day to watch some golf at the Quail Hollow Club. Crowds of fans showed up to watch another day of the Wells Fargo Championship tournament.
Plenty of fans were still leaving the course even as the sun had started to set Friday.
“Great atmosphere. Very nice weather. Beautiful course,” said fan Holden Shearan as he was leaving the course.
For some fans, Friday was their first time visiting Quail Hollow.
“Definitely had never been out here before and hadn’t experienced a golf tournament before so definitely wanted to get out here and enjoy the nice weather,” said fan Nakul Karnik.
For others, hitting the links for big tournaments is a tradition.
“I’m a golf fan so this is an excellent opportunity to get a chance to see the course and golfers that I enjoy watching,” said Charlotte resident Devan Pittman.
It was an extra special day for Don Post and his 8-year-old son, Palmer. Friday was Palmer’s first time attending a professional golf event.
“It was great. This is the first time I’ve been able to bring my 8-year-old son to a golf tournament and I’m a big golfer so it was a special moment for us,” explained the elder Post.
But mother nature may try to ruin some magic moments during the Wells Fargo Championship. There’s a chance for rain in Charlotte both Saturday and Sunday.
“The Charlotte weather is always kind of crazy so you never know what you’re gonna it, so if it’s nice out again we’ll definitely try to come out here,” said Karnik.
