Man accused of violently assaulting man in Iredell County
According to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office, 27-year-old Brent Dingess was charged with one count of felony assault inflicting serious injury.

IREDELL COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - Officials charged a man with the violent assault of another man in Iredell County Wednesday.

According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and detectives responded to Suzanne Lane due to a reported assault Wednesday.

Upon arrival, deputies learned a 58-year-old man was assaulted and suffered a serious head injury.

The man was taken by Iredell County EMS to North Carolina Baptist Hospital for treatment.

During the investigation, officials determined that the victim was talking to a person at the location when 27-year-old Brent Allen Dingess approached him.

Officials say a verbal dispute started, and Dingess struck the man.

Further evidence showed the man then fell and struck an object on the ground causing greater injury, according to deputies.

Officials say Dingess fled the scene prior to the deputies’ arrival.

He was found shortly after in a vehicle and was taken into custody.

Based on all the evidence, detectives arrested Dingess and took him to the Iredell County Detention Center where they charged him with one count of felony assault inflicting serious injury.

Based on information gathered during the booking process, it was shown that Dingess had outstanding arrest warrants from Alexander County for misdemeanor assault with deadly weapon, and misdemeanor injury to personal property.

Dingess was taken before Magistrate S. Nicholson who issued a $30,000 secured bond for these charges.
