SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - Though the girl and the store manager strongly deny the charge, police in Salisbury arrested a 16-year-old girl for allegedly helping three other teen girls to steal shoes.

According to the report, police apprehended three juvenile girls in an area near Marriot Circle on Wednesday night. The girls had a pair of Timberland boots and a pair of Nike sandals that had been stolen from The Shoe Dept.

The girls told police that a store clerk, Mia Alyssa Botteon, 16, had arranged to help them steal the shoes. They say Botteon told the girls to meet her at the back of the store and then gave them the shoes.

They said they had met Botteon at a party and that she had agreed to help them get the shoes.

Police went back to The Shoe Dept. on Faith Road to talk to Botteon. According to the report, Botteon and the store manager both disputed the allegation and said it was not true.

Botteon was charged with one count of larceny by employee, and three counts of contributing to the deliquency of a minor. She was jailed and later released on a bond of $1000.
