ALEXANDER COUNTY, NC (WBTV) – Daveion Washington, 17, is leaving for Nashville, after his student body rallied to send him on a dream trip of a lifetime to NFL Draft Day.
Washington lives with autism. He is also a popular kid with an infectious smile. He wants to be a sports announcer when he grows up, loves the Seattle Seahawks and is so immersed with the facts and figures of sports, he has taken it upon himself to develop – and publish – a publication for his high school called, “Daveion’s Weekend Preview.”
That student body at Alexander Central High School in Taylorsville came out to the football field to surprise him, with the help of Charlotte-based charity Dream On 3.
This is the first time the non-profit has taken a child to Draft Day.
Daveion’s reaction was priceless.
Thanks to Wheelhouse Media, who has given us permission to use their video to show you the good coming out of this school.
In the video you’ll note a special personal message for Daveion from the General Manager of the Seahawks, John Schneider.
You can see the entire video of that message here.
Next Thursday at 5pm, we’ll show you how Daveion’s 4-day VIP trip in Nashville witnessing the fast-paced moves of Draft Day played out. Have fun, Daveion!
