CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The Wells Fargo Championship picked up two big commitments on Tuesday as the #2 player in the world Justin Rose and last year’s Masters winner Patrick Reed will be playing in Charlotte next week.
This will be Rose’s 8th appearance at the Wells Fargo Championship. In 2014, he finished 5th and in 2016, he came in 3rd. Rose has won 9 times on the PGA Tour in his career and claimed the FedEx Cup last season.
Reed will be making his 7th appearance here in Charlotte with his best finish coming last year when he finished 8th. Reed has 6 PGA Tour win on his resume as the 2018 Masters win was his first major victory of his career.
With Rose committing, the tournament now has 3 of the top 5 players in the world coming to Charlotte (#2 Rose, #4 Rory McIlroy, #5 Justin Thomas). Reed is ranked 19th in the world which means the tourney now has 10 of the top 25 in the world competing in the Queen City next week (.
The field can still get better as golfers have until April 26th to commit.
