Man served multiple warrants following 5-hour police standoff in Gaston County

Suspect in custody following police situation at Gaston County home

DALLAS, NC (WBTV) - A Dallas suspect taken into custody following a five-hour standoff with officers Monday night has been identified as 27-year-old Christopher Donald Hibberts.

Gaston County police say they were called to a home on Old Spencer Mountain Road in Dallas regarding a reported kidnapping and assault.

Officers say they attempted to serve warrants on Hibberts, but say he ran into the home and refused to come out.

Five hours later, police say they forced entry and found Hibberts hiding. He was taken into custody shortly after 10:30 p.m.

Hibberts was served with warrants for second-degree kidnapping, break and enter to terrorize or injure, assault on a female, assault by pointing a gun and interfering with 911.

Police or Hibberts were not injured during the encounter, police say.

Hibberts is being held without bond.
