CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - 2012 Wells Fargo Championship winner and the No.10 ranked player in the world, Rickie Fowler, has committed to play in the 2019 Wells Fargo Championship.
Fowler earned the first of his five career PGA Tour victories at Quail Hollow Club, defeating Rory McIlroy and D.A. Points in a playoff with birdie on the 18th hole in 2012. With today’s announcement, Fowler becomes the fifth past championship to join this year’s field at Quail Hollow Club. (Other past championships that have committed are Jason Day, J.B. Holmes, Lucas Glover and Rory McIlroy.)
There are now currently eight players in the top 25 in the world rankings scheduled to participate in the Wells Fargo Championship.
Current players in the Top 25 that have committed to play at Quail Hollow Club: No.4 Rory McIlroy, No.5 Justin Thomas, No.10 Rickie Fowler, No.12 Paul Casey, No.13 Jason Day, No.20 Webb Simpson, No.23 Phil Mickelson, No.24 Gary Woodland.
Players have until Friday, April 26 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern time to commit.
