Temperatures peak in the 80s, First Alert declared for Friday

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - With high pressure still holding a firm grip on our weather pattern, another pretty day is on the way! There will be a few more clouds mixing in, but today will be even warmer than recent days - getting close to 80° this afternoon.

After a pleasant evening, dry conditions will prevail tonight with overnight lows only falling back into the mild 50s.

By Thursday, we’ll turn our attention to our next cool front which could bring even more clouds to the area, but still dry conditions during the day. There’s a slight chance for a shower Thursday night, before rain becomes likely on Friday.

There are some early signals that some of Friday’s storms could be on the strong side, something we’re monitoring. At this point, the greatest threats across the WBTV viewing area appear to be damaging wind gusts and heavy downpours. With that in mind, a First Alert Day has been declared for Friday. '

Highs will be near again 80° on Thursday, falling into the 70s with the better rain chance on Friday.

Looking ahead to the weekend, there could be a parting shower around on Saturday along with a noticeable breeze. Saturday will be cool with highs in the middle 60s but we’ll warm to the middle 70s on Easter when more sunshine is expected.

Enjoy the sunshine and have a great hump day!
