KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) — A jury will decide whether a school system's yoga class was done to promote Christianity.
U.S. Judge William Ray on Friday refused the Cobb County school system's request for summary judgment and said the case will go to trial.
Bonnie Cole, the former assistant principal at Bullard Elementary School, filed a lawsuit following her transfer from the school after parental complaints. During the 2014 school year, Cole introduced yoga-based breathing and stretching exercises to help students reduce stress.
Cole said the school system adopted the "religious perspective" of complaining parents who said the practices did not align with their Christian beliefs.
