UNION COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - A Union County Sheriff’s deputy was charged with assault on a female and communicating threats Friday after an investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office.
Christopher Scott Horne, 49, was served a criminal summons Friday afternoon and is now on administrative duty pending the outcome of the case.
The charges are connected to a domestic incident involving Horne and his estranged wife that allegedly happened on Dec. 21, 2018.
Officials say Horne’s estranged wife filed a report with the Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 5, 2019 and detectives began an investigation into the matter.
Upon conclusion of the investigation, detectives met with a Union County magistrate to present their findings.
A magistrate found probable cause and issued a criminal summons against Horne. His court appearance is scheduled for March 26, 2019.
