BLOWING ROCK, NC (WBTV) - Winter weather spread across western North Carolina on Tuesday bringing a mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain to the foothills and mostly snow to the mountains.
In Blowing Rock, about three inches of snow had fallen by 10pm and there appeared to be no letup. Forecasters expect it to switch to freezing rain and sleet. Roads were covered, including Highway 321. Plow trucks were pushing the snow and spreading salt trying to stay ahead of it.
“It’s gonna be a long night,” said interim Blowing Rock Public Works Director Matt Blackburn. He is hoping it will stay all snow. Across the area few power outages have been reported so far. Officials are monitoring the situation.
