911 calls related to shootings in York County released

911 calls released after deadly shooting

YORK COUNTY, SC (WBTV) - Authorities released six phone calls made to 911 dispatch in York County on Tuesday morning after four people were shot in two separate shootings.

CMPD arrested 35-year-old Marques Heath after a short chase in Charlotte Tuesday afternoon. Heath was extradited back to South Carolina on Wednesday, to face a judge for the crimes committed there.

Heath is facing 19 offenses, including murder, two counts of attempted murder, three counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated degree, five counts of kidnapping, burglary, two counts of possession of a weapon in commission of a violent crime, two counts of possession of a firearm by person convicted of a felony and receiving stolen goods less than $2,000.

Heath is being held in the York County Detention Center without bond.

The York County Coroner identified 20-year-old Shanijela Williams as the woman Heath allegedly shot and killed at a home on Leach Street Tuesday morning. Deputies says he shot two other people there and also attacked two more people with a hammer.

Deputies say Heath then went to a home on Farlow Road and shot another woman.

Two women who were shot were taken to CMC where one woman was in stable condition, the other was in critical condition. Law enforcement said Friday the two women were still hospitalized. The other victims are expected to be okay.

Friday, law enforcement released the audio files of six calls made to dispatch shortly after the shootings.

The first call came in at 10:25 a.m. A security guard at a retirement community located next to Leach Road called to report a man standing outside of the guard shack asking for an ambulance.

“He keeps leaning around the guard shack like somebody’s after him or something,” the caller said.

Shortly after, two other callers reported hearing shots fired near Leach Road.

“Ma’am there’s someone at the house next door dead, and someone needs an ambulance next door,” another caller said.

While deputies responded to the home on Leach Road, several other calls came into dispatch reporting a second shooting on Farlow Road.

The callers told dispatchers a woman was bleeding from her head and hand. She was sitting on the front porch of a home on the block.

“What’s wrong with her, Oh my God her face… please come help her, please please please come help her,” a caller told dispatchers, hysterically.

“I watched him shoot her and everything. I can describe what he looks like, just please get somebody here it’s bad," another caller said.

The woman who had been shot was sitting upright and struggling to breathe, but told witnesses who had shot her.

The callers identified the shooter at 35-year-old Marques Heath.

Warrants released Friday claim Heath used a stolen 12-guage shotgun in the shootings.

Heath was out on bond for two separate cases that happened within the last few months. He was arrested in September on more than a dozen drugs and weapons charges. He was arrested again in January for allegedly beating a pregnant woman on the same block where the first shooting occurred Tuesday. Deputies say the woman who was killed was not the same victim in the domestic violence case reported earlier this year.
