Driver killed after car loses control, crashes into several trees

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A crash is under investigation after a person was killed in a single-car crash Wednesday night.

The crash happened just after 8:30 p.m. on Four Horse Road. Police say they located a silver Pontiac G6 in the woods after it appeared to have struck several trees before coming to a rest.

The driver of the car who was wearing a seat belt was pronounced dead on the scene. There were not any additional passengers in the car at the time of the crash.

The victim’s name will be released once his family has been notified, police say.

A preliminary investigating revealed the car ran off the road to the right and lost control. No other known cars were involved in the crash and there is no additional evidence that proves another vehicle contributed to the crash.

Officials say the speed of the vehicle has not yet been determined and it does not appear alcohol or drug use contributed to the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
