CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Balmy breezes and unseasonably mild conditions greet us yet again this morning and we’ve already smashed one record for the day! The low temperature of just 63° in Charlotte shattered the previous record of 60° that stood for 135 years!
After four straight days in the 70s, today will be a transition day between the unseasonably warm weather this week and the reality check that’s coming our way this weekend. Temperatures this afternoon will range from the cold 30s in the mountains to the 50s in the foothills, 60s across the Charlotte area and warm 70s down in the Sandhills. That’s quite a gradient!
We’ll all be much colder tonight and you’ll need the heat in the morning as lows fall into the 20s in the mountains and 30s in every other neighborhood.
Saturday will bring a mix of clouds and sunshine with highs close to 50°. It will be even colder Saturday night with lows dropping into the 20s for most of the WBTV viewing area.
Looking ahead, there will be more clouds around Sunday with chilly readings in the 40s and perhaps a spotty shower late on Sunday before a more widespread rain event looks to unfold Monday into Tuesday. At this point, the heaviest rain appears to come in late Tuesday as a front crosses the region.
Hope you have a great Friday & weekend!
