CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Despite the warm weather over the week, January was bitter cold so WBTV paired with Watchmen of the Streets, local homeless’ advocates, for the month’s 3 Degree Guarantee.
WBTV meteorologist Al Conklin’s forecasts were on target 20 out of 22 days last month and that means a $1000 donation for the organization.
Jason Ready was once living on the streets of Charlotte, but now he’s got a place to call home and recently graduated from UNCC.
“Watchmen of the streets are friends, family, they physically come into the camps and deliver what’s needed so that homeless folks have hope. That’s makes a big difference. They help to keep the drive up to get out of homelessness,” Ready said.
Heath Burchett, the Director of Watchmen of the Streets, says the organization will use the money for supplies.
“It’s going to be used to buy supplies for people living on the streets in Charlotte and the surrounding community,” Burchett said.
If anyone would like to make a donation or perhaps even volunteer, you can find more information at www.watchmenofthestreets.com.
