CATAWBA COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - A man was arrested Friday afternoon in connection to an early-morning assault of two people in Catawba County.
DeAndre Jerome Mack is charged with attempted first degree murder, first degree kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill, felonious strangulation, and assault on a female.
The hunt for Mack began just after 7:30 a.m. at the Crosstown Apartments on County Home Road. Deputies say Mack assaulted a female on the ground outside an apartment. He is also accused of assaulting a family member of the victim. He also had an outstanding warrant for an assault on the same female victim from the day before.
When deputies got to the scene Mack had already left. The victim - whose name is not being released - was rushed to Catawba Valley Medical Center with potentially life-threatening injuries.
Just before noon, officials got a call about a man matching Mack’s description running through a yard on Thomasville Road. A deputy in the area found Mack and arrested him without incident. He is being held at the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office with no bond.
