CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Lenoir-Rhyne came into the Levine Center as the underdog, but left on top by handing No. 6 Queens a 92-79 loss. The Royals had won 14 straight and were a perfect 11-0 in league play heading into this contest.
Emmanuel Wembi started the Bears up offensively, scoring eight of the Bears' first 10 points and went a perfect 7-of-7 from the field. Wembi finished with a season-high 16 points. In the second half, Darius Simmons would keep the momentum going offensively for Lenoir-Rhyne. Simmons finished with 14 points on 4-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc, and helped push Lenoir-Rhyne’s lead to double digits thanks to back-to-back three’s midway through the second half. The Bears also forced 20 turnovers and shot 6-of-10 from long range in the second half to pull out the victory.
Sean Willett led the Royals with a game-high 30 points. Willett went 11-for-21 from the field and hit four 3-pointers.
