CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Marking seven days down on our TeamNOSugar 30 day challenges is always one of my favorite things to do! Sticking with this for entire week is no easy feat so I always feel it’s important to celebrate it.
This time – I wanted to share a success story with you. I truly believe that seeing others do well – and reach their goals – through TeamNOSugar can really keep you inspired so that you want to keep going. That’s where Joey Mack comes in. The 31 year-old reached out to me on Instagram to share his story. And let me tell you – he was EXCITED. Joey told me the tipping point for getting his health on track came as his marriage crumbled last summer. As he took a hard look at his life and his relationship to food - he realized he struggled with depression and was using food as comfort.
He'd followed my story for years -- but finally decided to join TeamNOSugar. Since last July – Joey has lost a whopping 74lbs! Joey also really did his research to find low carb meals that worked for him. He also started drinking his coffee black and switched to unsweet tea. It wasn’t easy but Joey says he was determined to make lasting changes. And, his hardwork paid off: instead of the size 3X shirts and Jackets, he now wears a Large. He fits into pants with a 38 waist instead of 44 to 46.
In an email testimonial to me about his journey, Joey wrote, “It is night and day how great I feel compared to how I felt at the beginning of this journey. I no longer struggle to tie my boots or shoes, I'm no longer out of breath when I have to walk to the roof at work. I haven't had this much confidence in myself since high school, I'm 31 now. "
Joey also wanted me to share that he struggled for years with his weight and that if he can do it, anyone can. And, he said he did it all without a gym membership. He didn’t want anyone to think you had to belong to a gym to get healthy.
