CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Good Monday morning. It’s shaping up to be a damp and dreary end to 2018… and there will likely be a few showers during the early morning hours of the new year. We’ll get a bit of a break from Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday before another strong storm takes aim at the Carolina’s.
Patchy areas of dense fog are the biggest concern for Monday morning. In many places, visibility will drop to less than one mile. Mist and drizzle will be the predominant precipitation type… along with scattered showers as a warm front lifts north across the WBTV viewing area. Later tonight, as we approach midnight, a cold front will move into the North Carolina mountains. It may be a wet night for revelers in the mountains.
The cold front will weaken significantly as it moves into the Charlotte area. Chances for rain exist, but most of the showers will be light and spotty across the metro.
Looking at the extended forecast… we’ve got another powerful rain-maker moves into the area for Thursday and Friday. Significant rainfall amounts across the WBTV viewing area are in the cards once again for the end of the week. Timing and amounts to be fine tuned in the next day or so.
Have a great and safe New Year’s Eve!
