CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Easy halftime reading. Love all this.
Mia -- a student in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools -- organized a presentation for her elementary school about Hunters Syndrome. It's a rare, devastating illness that affects about 500 young boys in the country. Her little cousin is one of them.
We wrote about Mia's cousin this week as the newest one of our #MollysKids. As thanks to her for looking out for others, we gave Mia and her dad seats to the Carolina Panthers game. Dad tweeted these pictures during the first quarter.
How did we have tickets to give? Because a Charlotte Fire Department firefighter gave me his entire PSL season of tickets to please give “to deserving kids.” Awesome story.
It has been a tough week with horrific headlines. But these pictures of Mia and her dad, knowing the backstory on why they're at the game, and seeing the smile from Chancellor Adams in the previous post... all needed reminders there are good people in this world.
**Editor’s note: This is about one of #MollysKids, children WBTV Anchor Molly Grantham follows closely on her Facebook page. It was first published there, which is why it’s written in a personal way. For years Molly has followed hundreds of kids with uphill medical battles. Find this story and updates on all #MollysKids here.
