CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Democratic lawmakers say a bailout for the U.S. auto industry is the top priority as Congress gathers for a lame-duck session this week.
The bailout would help General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler. All three are struggling.
The big three auto companies are asking for 25 billion dollars in emergency loans from the 700 billion dollar bailout bill.
The bailout plan will begin in the Senate, though it may not go any further. The White House is against the idea and several Republican leaders seem inclined to ignore the pleas coming from Detroit.
