NCDOT clearing debris at Charlotte area bridges

CHARLOTTE, NC - The N.C. Department of Transportation is working to clear debris under bridges in downtown Charlotte and along sections of I-77 and I-85 in Mecklenburg County. The department is working with officials from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the Charlotte Fire Department.

NCDOT began clearing operations today, concentrating on the outer loop of Interstate 277. Crews will continue clearing on Tuesday, Oct. 14, and Wednesday, Oct. 15, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day. No lane closures are expected to be needed during these operations.

Motorists should remain alert in the following areas for work crews:

  • Interstate 277 Outer loop at College Street
  • Interstate 277 Outer Loop at Fifth Street
  • Interstate 277 Outer/Inner Loop at Caldwell Street
  • Interstate 277 Outer/Inner Loop at Davidson Street
  • Interstate 77 Northbound at Woodlawn Road
  • Interstate 85 Northbound/Southbound at Billy Graham Parkway
  • Interstate 85 Northbound at Freedom Drive
