Motel employee shot in Taylorsville

TAYLORSVILLE, NC (WBTV) - Police have charged two men in connection with a shooting which happened at a motel in Taylorsville early Monday morning.

Officers from the Taylorsville Police Department and the Alexander County Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance at the Taylorsville Motel right after midnight.

When the officers arrived, they found a person who had been shot in the face and arm.

The motel manager told police when he went to the room, he found the occupants of the room and their guest attempting to open the door.

The manager advised the subjects to be quiet and an argument began.  At this point, the manager contacted the maintenance employee to assist with fixing the door.

When the maintenance worker arrived and another argument ensued. 

Police say Anthony Gregory, 37, of Taylorsville shot the maintenance man. 

Gregory then fled the scene and was caught a short time later.  He was charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and felony possession of cocaine.

Jerry Flowers, 45, was also arrested for accessory after the fact and felony possession of cocaine.  Both are in the Alexander County jail.

The victim is listed in fair condition at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
