Service Interruption for Piedmont Natural Gas Customers

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) Piedmont Natural Gas crews are working on repairing a section that feeds gas to their customers stretching from South Tryon at I-485 South to Lake Wylie.

The cause is still being investigated, but it is believed to have been caused by a natural gas valve being inadvertently left in a "closed" or "off" position. As many as 7,000 customers have been affected since 9 p.m. Thursday.

While natural gas to customers should be restored by the end of the Labor Day weekend, it is likely that restoration efforts will continue late into next week according to a news release.

Piedmont will be providing hourly updates on the service restoration effort on its website
