Police confirm arson in South Charlotte fire

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A police report has confirmed that a fire at a home in the Rain Tree Community of South Charlotte was intentionally set.

The fire started at a home on Peyton Randolph Road before 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

It took firefighters nearly 30 minutes to get the fire under control. One firefighter was treated on scene for heat exhaustion.

Damage to the home is estimated at nearly $200,000.
