Career: Melissa started out in print journalism, writing everything from business features for The Wall Street Journal to investigative articles for Charlotte Magazine. She came to WBTV as a Special Projects Producer in the fall of 2008, and started reporting on the air in February.
Honors: A four-part series she wrote called "Crime in Charlotte" won: a First Place Clarion Award from the Association of Women in Communications, a Gold award from the Magazine Association of the Southeast and a Bronze award from the Society of Professional Journalists.
