Hometown: Buhl, Idaho (A small town in the south-central part of the state.)
Family: Parents in Idaho, brother in Philadelphia, sister in Phoenix. Kelly lives in Charlotte with her dog, Pogo, and her cat, Nox. Pogo is short for "Pogonip," the Shoshone word for winter fog. Nox is short for "Autumnal Equinox," which is when she was adopted.
Education: Attended Boise State University for one year before transferring to study weather. Graduated from the University of North Dakota with B.S. in Atmospheric Sciences and a B.A. in Communication.
Career: Kelly started her television career as a General Assignment Reporter and fill-in Weather Anchor at KVLY in Fargo, North Dakota. She left the very cold, very windy winters of the Northern Plains for the slightly warmer, but every bit as windy weather of eastern Idaho to work as Morning Meteorologist at KIDK in Idaho Falls. She then crossed the state to work as Chief Meteorologist at KBCI in Boise. In September of 2007 she left the hot and dry summers of southern Idaho for the heat and humidity of North Carolina, joining Charlotte's most experienced weather team at WBTV.
Hobbies: Kelly enjoys swimming in the summer, and walking and hiking with the dog year-round. She reads a lot, writes a little, and sketches occasionally. She bakes cookies (chocolate & butterscotch chip, peanut butter, and snickerdoodles are her favorites) and enjoys making jewelry.
