Makes 4 servings
8 slices bread, 1/2 inch thick
1 egg
1 3/4 cup water
1 3/4 cup flour
salt
1 tsp baking powder
4 slices ham
4 slices turkey
4 slices swiss cheese
3 cups canola oil
1) Wisk egg and water together in a mixing bowl. Add flour, salt, and baking powder. Wisk until very smooth.
2) On one slice of bread arrange a slice of ham, turkey, and cheese to cover the bread evenly. Place another slice of bread on top and cut diagonally
3) Heat oil to about 365 degrees in a 10 inch pan. Dip half of the into the batter, and allow excess to drain. Then place the carefully into the oil.
4) Cook each side for about 3 minutes and remove. Place them into a warm oven to keep warm til serving.
