Vioxx Data Questions, Vitamin Dangers, Stop Snoring

Vioxx may be more dangerous than we thought...
New documents released in the court cases over the painkiller show that the drug's maker -- Merck -- downplayed evidence that Vioxx tripled the death risk of Alzheimer's patients.

In fact, a review of the documents found many studies on Vioxx were prepared by Merck employees or paid consultants.

The Journal of American Medicine says this is just the tip of the iceberg, and JAMA says it expect to find more corruption in the prescription drug industry.

Now to some news on pills you don't need a prescription for.

London's Daily Telegraph reporting today that vitamins may increase the risk of premature death.

Doctors say anti-oxidants like vitamins A, E, and C and Beta-carotene mop up compounds called free radicals and they cause disease.

Researchers say this is only a problem with synthetic vitamins -- not ones coming from food.

And wives, you may hold the key to stopping your husband's snoring.

There's a device called CPAP.. that helps men breathe easier, and studies find they are more likely to use it if their wife is sleeping next to them.

Men who were being treated for snoring followed through with the treatment when their spouse slept next to them...and as a result both slept soundly.

Men whose wives left the bed, were much more likely to take the device off...
