DAVIDSON COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - The body of a missing boater was located Tuesday morning on the shoreline near Crane Creek, according to officials involved in the search.
Davidson County emergency officials said that 51-year-old George Goins of Lexington jumped from a pontoon boat and did not resurface.
Rescue crews were called to High Rock Lake on both the Davidson and Rowan County sides on Sunday night just after 6:00 pm to search for a missing boater. Search efforts covered an estimated area of over 3 square miles and involved over 14 agencies and 20 plus man hours. Efforts included the use of specialized equipment from across the region as well as the use of cadaver dogs.
Officials said that Goins was on a boat with seven other people when he voluntarily jumped off the side of the moving boat in water approximately 12 feet deep.
