DALLAS, NC (WBTV) - The first time Gabby Bristol set out to start her own lipstick company, it failed.

"I thought I knew what I was doing and didn't," Bristol said.

The venture came after trying to find a decent black-colored lipstick. She couldn't, so she tried to make her own.

Bristol has spent several years and a lot of time now trying out techniques and formulas, until she finally came up with lipsticks and glosses she was proud of.

She now owns and runs her own business called Be Moxie. The line consists of lipsticks and glosses she makes in her home in Gaston County. She's saving most of the money from her sales to reinvest in her company.

She's also going to cosmetology school full time with even bigger dreams. Bristol hopes to one day run her own salon where she'll sell her full line of cosmetics.

One thing is for sure, her advice on failure is spot on.

"Keep going, don't give up because you don't ever know what could happen," Bristol said.
