ANDERSON COUNTY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Anderson County coroner said search crews found a body near a boat ramp where an unoccupied boat was found Sunday afternoon on Lake Hartwell.

South Carolina's Department of Natural Resources said they received the call around 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Officials said a boat was found near a Honea Path boat landing. According to DNR, the boat was moving and the motor was engaged. DNR also said a dog and cell phone were found in the boat, but a person was not in it.

Dive teams with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office has dive teams responded to search for the boater. DNR said the sheriff's office is also using side sonar to search for a possible body.

Just before 8 a.m. Monday Coroner Greg Shore confirmed he was called to the boat ramp after search teams located a body nearby.

Shore said he got the call around 7:30 a.m., and released his identity on Monday as Larry Dickson, of Fountain Inn.

Tony Spires, an investigator with DNR, said the person they found in the water likely went under sometime between 10 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday.

Spires said a fisherman found the body after it surfaced in a nearby cove.

Spires said that cove had not yet been searched because investigators did not know where the victim entered the water and were searching a wide area.
