Suspect arrested, charged in fatal shooting of Rock Hill man

ROCK HILL, S.C. (WBTV) -

A person fatally shot in Rock Hill Sunday morning was identified by the coroner as 32-year-old Terrence Williams.

According to the police report, officers responded to the 2500 block of Celanese Road and found a man, later identified as Williams, with gunshot wounds.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. 

On Tuesday, Rock Hill Police Department released a statement saying a suspect had been arrested. Dewight Sheldon Baird. He is charged with murder and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence. 

The suspect reportedly fled the scene before officers arrived. Officials with the Rock Hill Police Department say they believe the suspect and the victim knew each other.

Autopsy and toxicology results are pending.
