Bicyclist fatally struck in northeast Charlotte crash

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to a fatal crash in northeast Charlotte early Saturday morning.

A report by CMPD says officials found a bicyclist and damaged 2003 Infiniti G35 in the 9700 block of Old Concord Road around 1:09 a.m.

An investigation revealed Miquase Corey Maddox was riding a bicycle traveling southwest and against traffic when he was struck by the Infiniti, officials say. Maddox was thrown from his bicycle and off of the road. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. 

The driver of the Infiniti and a passenger were both wearing a seatbelt and were not impaired during the crash, officials say.  

The crash remains under and investigation and officials ask anyone with information about the crash to call 704-334-1600.
