ROCK HILL, SC (WBTV) - After a long summer of vacationing, relaxing, and enjoying a break, leaders from the Rock Hill School district wanted to get teachers and faculty back into the swing of things in a big way.
And there's no better way to do that than a full-on pep-rally for staff.
Bill Cook, the district's brand new superintendent, reinforced core values and educational goals for the year. Exceptional teachers were recognized and honored.
In one of the most exciting moments of the rally, Rock Hill High's Melissa Tucker was named the district's Teacher of the Year.
And her take-home prize? A brand new car.
"It was such a privilege to be named the district teacher of the year," Tucker said, "It's been an interesting journey so far. I'm really excited to bring on August 20."
School starts back for Rock Hill on August 20.
