WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

A week that has featured a few storms, yes, but also many appreciable stretches of dry weather, is coming to a close. In the coming days... an approaching front will first act to increase storm chances but, eventually, the front's departure will allow for decreasing rain chances.

WEEKEND FORECAST: Daily highs will mainly ping the 90+ realm with overnight lows consistently in the 70s. There are plenty of sunny intervals to be expected this weekend, so don't cancel any plans, however have a contingency in place in case of a developing shower or storm.  Breezes remain southerly between 5 and 15 mph.

NEXT WEEK FORECAST DETAILS: Daily highs will mainly ping the 90+ realm but some 80s are possible for early next week. Overnights will likely feature consistent 70s. Storm chances will hover in the 40 to 50% range through Tuesday before shrinking to the 10 to 30% range for next Wednesday through Friday.

THE TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK: Middle August is a traditionally an active time in the tropics but there are no major trouble spots in the Atlantic Basin. The remnants of Tropical Storm Debby remain no threat to land as they race across cool North Atlantic waters. Also, an area of disturbed weather in the central Atlantic has a 10-20% for possible development through the weekend before conditions become unfavorable. The next name on the list: Ernesto.
