A stretch of US-321 in Gaston County reopened Thursday morning after downed power lines closed the road for hours.
The closure started around 6 p.m. Wednesday on US-321 at Hardin Road.
The highway is closed from mile marker 17 to 18 near High Shoals. The North Carolina Department of Transportation initially expected the road to be open early Thursday. By 9:30 a.m., the road was reopening.

NCDOT tweeted about the closure around 9 p.m. Wednesday, saying the road was shut down in both directions.

The closure is expected to remain in place until 8 AM Thursday. A detour is in place for both directions.
The NCDOT advised drivers trying to travel on US-321 North to use Hardin Road to Old US-321.
Drivers trying to travel on US-321 South were advised to use High Shoals Road to Old US-321.
