CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes the fostering of relationships between the community and law enforcement. The annual event also supports a "no tolerance" against crimes in neighborhoods.
There are more than 70 events scheduled throughout Mecklenburg neighborhoods on August 7. Free food, giveaways, demonstrations, and ice cream socials are some of the activities planned for the communities.
Gaston County Police Department will be hosting their 5th annual National Night Out at Biggerstaff Park located at 1303 Dallas Cherryville Highway from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. August 7.
The New Outreach Christian Center will be hosting an event from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at 3900 Gossett Avenue.
In observation of the National Night Out, CMPD ask that residents leave their porch light on from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. as a symbol of awareness.
