CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - On Saturday, the Carolina Panthers posted a video on social media from three players asking Panthers fans from all over to show support for the team's logo.
The team is calling the social media campaign the #PanthersLogoChallenge and shared a video from some of the team's most beloved players.
Quarterback Cam Newton, Linebacker Thomas Davis and running back Christian McCaffrey all appeared in the video challenging fans to post the logo as much as possible.
The team says it wants to convince Owner David Tepper to put the Panthers logo midfield, and say they need to see the logo everywhere.
"I think the team could have an extra little nugget of swag if we kind of change things up, especially with the NFL shield," Newton said in the video. "I think it would be cool if the Panther head is in the middle of the field, and that's just me. Who am I? Appreciate you."
The challenge has already generated buzz on social media. The team's tweet already has more than 900 retweets and more than 1,600 likes. The Instagram post had more than 44,000 views before noon Saturday.
"I want to see the Panthers logo everywhere in the Carolinas," Davis said. "We want to see the logo all over the place, so tag it, post it, whatever you got to do," McCaffrey said.
The City of Charlotte tweeted the logo around 10 a.m. Saturday and several Panthers fans have followed suit.
