MONROE, NC (WBTV) - A Union County man was arrested Wednesday after police say he shot his son during an apparent domestic dispute early in the morning.
The incident happened just before 1 a.m. at a home on the 700 block of Baucom Road in Monroe. Deputies say the 38-year-old victim and his wife were in a domestic situation when the victim's father intervened.
The father, 62-year-old Bobby Junior Purser, then fired several shots, striking his son at least twice in the abdomen, the release states.
The son was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte where he was listed in critical but stable condition Wednesday afternoon.
Purser was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and taken to the Union County Jail.
