Seven-year-old Mariah Woolford has had some pretty epic birthday parties in her day.
“I’ve had a Frozen themed one, and a Dora one,” Woolford said.
But this Saturday she’s planning on having her closest friends and family all together to celebrate her big day at Gaston County’s Animal Care and Enforcement.
When her mom suggested the idea, she went right for it, “I said, ‘sure I’ve never done anything like this,' and it just worked all together.”
The party will feature the standard fare of balloons and cupcakes, but instead of games, the guests will be invited to walk dogs, play with cats, and help make special treats for the animals.
Shelter officials say they rely on volunteers to interact with the animals on a daily basis. They’re more than happy to host a whole party’s worth of people to help care for their animals.
