WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

It's the heart of July... a traditionally hot time of year. Average daily high temperatures are near 90. Every summer weekend is a big deal! If you're heading to the beach beware of a moderate to high risk for rip currents, particularly along our eastern facing beaches. Always heed the warnings put forth by lifeguards to ensure your safety this weekend. That being said, here are your First Alert Forecast details for the Cape Fear Region and a look at the tropics too...

THE WEEKEND: Expect highs in the middle 80s Saturday to upper 80s for Sunday. Overnight lows will settle in the seasonably cool 60s and 70s. Odds for a passing shower or thundershower will settle to a slim 10% Saturday and low 20% Sunday.

EARLY NEXT WEEK: High temperatures should continue their trend of the 80s to around 90 and overnight lows should settle in the lower and middle 70s next week. Shower or thundershower chances swell back to a seasonably higher 30-40%.

A LOOK AT THE TROPICS: The disorganized remnants of Hurricane Beryl stand a 20 to 30% chance of redevelopment near Bermuda within the next two to five days. Regardless of any such development, no direct Carolina impacts are likely.
