Man charged with attempted murder in southwest Charlotte shooting

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A man is facing multiple charges in connection with a shooting that left a woman hospitalized with serious injuries in southwest Charlotte Monday night.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, the shooting happened around 11:15 p.m. on Monday in the 7900 block of Nations Ford Road. Police say a woman was shot in a parking lot.

The victim was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Main with serious injuries, police say.

On Wednesday, police arrested 52-year-old Jerome Thompson and charged him with attempted first-degree murder, discharging a firearm in a city and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

The victim and Thompson knew each other, according to officers.
