CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The Charlotte Independence soccer team knocked off Nashville SC 1-0 Wednesday at the Sportsplex in Matthews.

The only goal of the night came in the 42nd minute when a free kick by Independence was saved by Nashville's goalkeeper but gathered by Independence forward Cordell Cato who played the ball back into the box and it was sent home by Kevan George, a Trinidad and Tobago International player, for the 1-0 lead.

It secured three points for the first time in seven games for the Independence.

They will take the weekend off, but return to action at league-leading Cincinnati Saturday, July 18 to be broadcast nationally on ESPN2.
